LEARN: TECHNICAL TOURS TECHNICAL TOUR 1: BERTONICO-TURANO LODIGIANO CCGT POWER PLANT Owner/Operator: Sorgenia Date: Monday 20 June Meeting Time: 09:00 Meeting Point: Registration, MiCo Milano Duration: Approximately 6 hours Cost: €90 Turano Lodigiano and Bertonico Combined Cycle Power Plant is a multishaft configuration located in and providing electricity to the municipality of Turano Lodigiano and Bertonico. The plant commenced commercial operation in 2011. • Rated output of 805 MW from a two-on-one combined cycle plant comprising two Ansaldo 277 MW V94.3A gas turbines and a single 265 MW rated Ansaldo condensing steam turbine. • Power block incorporates two three-pressure levels HRSGs, an air cooled condenser, and three 330 MVA step-up transformers. • Connected to the National transmission 380 kV grid via the main electrical switches sub-station (GIS) connected to the adjacent Terna electrical substation of Turano via an aerial connection. • Overall plant area is about 76,000 m2 with an area covered by buildings and facilities of approximately 18,000 m2 TECHNICAL TOUR 2: TORINO NORD COGENERATION PLANT Owner/Operator: IREN Date: Monday 20 June Meeting Time: 09:00 Meeting Point: Registration, MiCo Milano Duration: Approximately 6 hours Cost: €90 Operating since 2012, Torino Nord cogeneration power plant is the most recent facility by IREN Energia, and is part of the district heating systems of Turin. With its heated volume of more than 58 million of cubic meters and length of over 530 kilometers of double pipeline, it is the biggest power plants in Italy. The plant covers an area of about 80,000 m2. • A dual shaft combined cycle gas turbine plant with a power of 390 MWe and an efficiency of about 56 per cent in full electric mode and 340 MWe + 240 MWth and efficiency of about 85 per cent in full cogeneration mode. • Steam is cooled down in air condensation system. Equipped with Dry Low NOx burners and DeNOx and CatOx catalyst systems that reduce CO and NOx to values lower than 10 mg/Nm3 in all the operating range. • Three heat only boilers, with a total power of 340 MWth, fed exclusively with natural gas and used as backup and integration in the district heating systems. • A pressurized heat storage system made of 6 vessels with an overall capacity of 5,000 cubic meters and a storing capacity at nominal conditions of about 300 MWhth.
